History of World Forestry Day
The United Nations General Assembly declared 21 March as the International Day of Forests (IDF) in 2012. This day spreads and increases awareness about the importance of all types of forests. On each International Forest Day, countries are encouraged to make local, national, and international efforts to organize activities related to forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns. The theme of each International Forest Day is selected by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests.
