SSC CGL 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications
The educational qualifications required for various posts under the SSC CGL 2024 exam are as follows:
- Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University.
- Desirable: Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
- Junior Statistical Officer (JSO):
- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at the 12th standard level; or
- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
- Statistical Investigator Grade II:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University.
- The candidate must have studied Statistics as a subject in all three years of the graduation course.
- Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC):
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
- Desirable: Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university or recognized Research Institution.
- All Other Posts:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or equivalent.

Nationality
A candidate must be either:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Candidates belonging to categories (2), (3), (4), and (5) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
SSC CGL Selection Process
The selection process for the SSC CGL 2024 exam involves multiple stages to assess candidates’ suitability for various Group B and Group C posts in government ministries, departments, and organizations. Here’s an overview of the selection process:
Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Qualifying in nature)
- Tier-I is the initial stage of the selection process and is conducted in an online mode.
- It consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering subjects like General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.
- Candidates must qualify for Tier-I to advance to the next stage.
Tier-II: Computer-Based Examination
- Tier II is the second stage of the selection process and is also conducted in an online mode.
- It comprises multiple papers:
- Paper-I: Quantitative Abilities
- Paper-II: English Language and Comprehension
- Paper-III: Statistics (For candidates applying for the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) post)
- Paper-IV: General Studies (Finance & Economics) (For candidates applying for the Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer posts)
- Candidates must qualify each paper to proceed further.
Tier-III: Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive Paper)
- Tier III is a descriptive paper conducted offline (pen and paper mode).
- It assesses candidates’ writing skills in English or Hindi.
- The paper includes essay writing, letter/application writing, precis writing, etc.
- This tier aims to evaluate candidates’ language proficiency, analytical skills, and ability to articulate ideas coherently.
Tier-IV: Computer Proficiency Test/ Data Entry Skill Test (Wherever applicable)
- Tier-IV is conducted for certain posts that require specific computer skills or data entry skills.

Final Selection
- Final selection and allocation of candidates to various posts are based on their performance in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III (if applicable).
- Candidates are allotted posts based on their merit, preference, and vacancy availability.
- The Commission reserves the right to conduct skill tests or interviews at any stage of the selection process if deemed necessary.

- Tier I is qualifying in nature, and its marks are not considered for final merit.
