SSC CGL Eligibility 2024, Check Age Limit and Qualification

Every year, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) announces the SSC CGL Exam to recruit candidates for various Group B and C jobs in different ministries across India. To get selected, candidates must pass a two-tier examination. Candidates must have a completed graduation degree. SSC CGL Eligibility 2024

To be eligible for the SSC CGL exam:

  1. You should have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  2. Meet the age limit, There are age relaxations for certain categories.
  3. Should check the physical standards.
  4. Nationality criteria

SSC CGL Age Limit 2024

Candidates have to come within the age range as mentioned in the notification which is 18 to 30 years for the various posts, some categories get age relaxations.

There are certain age relaxations for different categories as per as the government guidelines.

Ex-servicemen, including commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs, must have at least 5 years of Military Service as on the latest date of receipt of the SSC CGL application and must have been released on the following grounds: completion of the assignment, physical impairment related to Military Service, invalided. 5 years
ECOs and SSCOs whose assignments have been extended beyond five years. In this scenario, the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate stating they can seek for civil employment and that they will be discharged on three months notice from the date you received the appointment offer. 5 years

SSC CGL Physical Standards

Candidates have to meet certain physical and medical standards for the SSC CGL 2024. The requirements differ for males and females and include measurements like height, weight, and chest size mentioned below.

Assistant in National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT)
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute
  • Desirable Qualifications: Degree in law from a recognized university.
Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • Minimum one year research experience in any recognized university (or) recognized
    • Research Institution Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.
Other Post Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent

SSC CGL Nationality

Nationality is an important requirement to check before applying for the exam. To be eligible, you must be:

  1. An Indian citizen
  2. A citizen of Nepal
  3. A citizen of Bhutan
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, with the intention of settling here permanently
  5. A person of Indian origin who has moved from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries like Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam, and intends to settle in India permanently

Tier-wise SSC CGL Qualification Requirements 2024

The SSC CGL exam has two parts: Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 is a multiple-choice test with questions on four subjects: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and Current Affairs, English, and Quantitative Aptitude. Tier 2 is also a multiple- choice test with five section: Reasoning, Maths, GK&GS , English and Computer test, check the table below
