Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Awards

The President of India has recently conferred the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards. A total of 94 artists, including 7 fellows, were honored for their exceptional contribution to Indian performing arts such as music, dance, theatre, puppetry, and folk traditions.

About Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Awards
Recipient Performing artists, teachers, and scholars in the field of performing arts.
Selection By the Akademi’s General Council, composed of distinguished figures in various performance arts disciplines and government nominees (Government of India, state governments, and Union Territories.)

Award Tiers
  • Akademi Fellow: Highest honour, with a cash prize of Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees three lakh).
  • Akademi Award: Prestigious honour, with a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh).
  • Additional Recognition: Both awards include a commemorative plaque (Tamrapatra) and a ceremonial scarf (Angavastram).
Eligibility Indian artists above 75 years old with no prior national honours in their career.
