Punjab PCS Prelims Selection Process 2025

The Prelims Exam is the first stage in the selection process, and it acts as a screening test for candidates to qualify for the Mains Exam. The Prelims marks are not counted in the final merit list but are crucial in determining eligibility for the next stage.

Exam Structure:

• Paper I: General Studies
• Paper II: Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)

Eligibility for Interview:

• General Candidates: Must score a minimum of 45% in the Mains Exam.
• SC/ST Candidates: Must score a minimum of 40%.
• A minimum of 25% in each paper is required to be eligible for the Interview.

Candidates must score well across all papers to be eligible for the Interview stage.

Exam Structure:

• Paper III: Optional Subject (Choose from a list of subjects)

The Interview is the final stage of the selection process, conducted for candidates who have successfully cleared the Mains exam.

Eligibility:

• Only candidates who have secured 45% marks in the Mains exam are eligible to appear for the Interview.

Interview Details:

• The Interview is intended to assess the candidate’s personality, leadership qualities, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and overall suitability for the administrative role.
• The Interview carries significant weightage in the final merit list. The marks obtained in the Interview, combined with the Mains exam score, determine the final selection.

Final Merit List:

• The final merit list will be based on the combined marks of the Mains Exam and Interview.
• Candidates who secure higher marks in both stages will rank higher on the merit list.

Punjab PCS Document Verification

After the Interview stage, a document verification round is conducted. During this round:
