Periyar Tiger Reserve is located in the Cardamom Hills and Pandalam Hills of the southern Western Ghats in Kerala, India. It was established in 1978 and is spread over an area of 925 sq km. The reserve is home to a significant population of Bengal tigers, along with other animals like Indian elephants, gaur, sambar deer, barking deer, wild boar, etc. As per the latest census conducted, there were around 44 tigers in the reserve.
