Before his current role, he served as the 21st Governor of Himachal Pradesh, making history as the first individual from Goa to hold this office in Himachal Pradesh. Before his tenure as Governor, Arlekar was a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Goa and also served as the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
