Nayab Singh Saini born on 25 January 1970, is an Indian politician who has been the Chief Minister of Haryana since 12 March 2024. He was previously the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana and served as the MP for Kurukshetra from 2019 to 2024. Before that he was a Minister of State in Haryana from 2015 to 2019 and a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019. He became Chief Minister after Manohar Lal Khattar’s resignation just weeks before the 2024 elections.

First Chief Minister of Haryana

Bhagwat Dayal Sharma was the first Chief Minister of Haryana and is also known as Panditji. He was born on 26 January 1918 in Beri town, Jhajjar district, Haryana. He became the Chief Minister on 1 November 1966, the same day Haryana became a separate state after Punjab was divided. Also, he served as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1968 to 1974, representing the Jhajjar constituency. Under his leadership, Haryana began its development as an independent state. He focused on building essential infrastructure, education, and healthcare, which laid the groundwork for future progress. Singh’s dedication to unity and prosperity among the people was key to shaping the state’s early growth and established him as an important figure in its political history.

Longest serving Chief Minister of Haryana

Bhajan Lal was Haryana’s longest-serving chief minister. He served as Chief Minister twice, His first term, from May 1968 to March 1972, focused on improving infrastructure and agriculture.
