ISRO Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon 2024

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced the Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon (BAH) as part of the celebrations for National Space Day 2024 (NSpD). This hackathon is set to engage the brightest minds in India by focusing on 12 problem statements related to Geo-Spatial Applications. These problem statements have been developed by various esteemed ISRO centers, including the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL), and the Space Applications Centre (SAC).

The hackathon aims to foster innovation and creativity among students from undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs across India. Participants are required to form teams comprising three to four members. The event will be managed through a dedicated web portal where teams can submit their proposals.

ISRO has outlined a rigorous two-level screening process to ensure that the best ideas are selected:

1. Initial Screening: A total of 100 teams will be shortlisted based on the innovation and relevance of their proposed solutions to the problem statements.
2. Expert Review: An expert committee will further evaluate these entries to select the top 30 teams that will advance to the grand finale.

Grand Finale

The grand finale of the Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon is scheduled to be a 30-hour marathon event. It will take place at the NRSC Outreach Facility in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, starting at 10:00 hrs IST on August 13, 2024. This event will provide the finalists with the opportunity to present and refine their solutions under the guidance of industry experts.

Teams interested in participating in the hackathon must submit their proposals through the dedicated web portal by July 26, 2024. The portal will also serve as the primary platform for all updates and information related to the event.

National Space Day 2024

The first National Space Day will be celebrated on August 23, 2024 to commemorate the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3. The theme for this year is “Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga”. ISRO also announced a logo design contest for the day, with the winning design to be used on merchandise, banners, and other materials.
