How Many Attempts for UPSC of General, OBC, SC/ST Age Limit

Up till the upper age limit is attained, SC/ST applicants are eligible for an unlimited number of IAS attempts. The maximum age for SC/ST candidates is 37 years old. This implies that SC/ST candidates may submit as many applications as they choose up until the age of 37.

UPSC Attempts for Physically Handicapped (PwD)

Candidates who are physically disabled also receive a waiver on their maximum age restriction and the number of UPSC attempts. Candidates with physical disabilities in the general and OBC categories are given nine UPSC attempts. Physically challenged applicants from SC/ST categories are permitted an unlimited number of retakes until their maximum age is attained. The maximum age for physically disabled people is 42 years old.

The current UPSC civil services guideline allows a general category applicant six chances to take the civil services test and a maximum age of 32 years.
