Global Maritime India Summit 2023
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the third Global Maritime India Summit 2023 in Mumbai via video conferencing on 17th October 2023. He also unveiled “Amrit Kaal Vision 2047,” a blueprint for India’s maritime blue economy. In line with this plan, he inaugurated, dedicated to the nation, and laid the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 23,000 crores aligned with the “Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.” The Global Maritime India summit provides an excellent platform for attracting investment in India’s maritime sector.
The Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) 2023 is a flagship event aimed at propelling the Indian maritime economy by promoting global and regional partnerships and facilitating investments. The summit is being held in Mumbai, India, from October 17-19, 2023.

Amrit Kaal Vision 2047
Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 is a blueprint for the development of India’s maritime blue economy. It was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 18, 2023, at the third Global Maritime India Summit in Mumbai. Key goals of Amrit Kaal Vision 2047:
- Increase India’s share of global maritime trade to 10% by 2047.
- Create 10 million new jobs in the maritime sector by 2047.
- Develop India’s maritime sector in a sustainable manner.
Tuna Tekra Deep Draft Terminal
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Tuna Tekra all-weather deep-draft terminal in Gujarat, which will be built at a cost of over Rs 4,500 crore. The Tuna Tekra Deep Draft Terminal is a new all-weather deep draft terminal being built at the Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat, India. The terminal is being developed in a public-private partnership (PPP) mode and is expected to be completed in 2025.
The terminal will have a berth length of 1,100 meters and a depth of 18 meters, making it capable of handling next-generation vessels carrying more than 18,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The terminal will also have a capacity of 2.19 million TEUs per year.
The Tuna Tekra Deep Draft Terminal is expected to have a significant impact on the Indian maritime sector. It will increase India’s port capacity and make it more competitive in the global maritime trade. The terminal will also boost economic growth and create jobs in the region.
