Key Demands of Centre’s Pact with Tripura

• Creation of “Greater Tipraland,” a separate state for Tripura’s tribal population, including enhancements to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
• Requests for TTAADC include direct funding from the Centre, its own police force, and revenue sharing from state gas exploration.
• They also seek official status for the Roman script for Kokborok language.

Accord Details

• The accord pledges to address indigenous issues related to history, land, political rights, economic development, identity, culture, and language in Tripura.
• A joint working group/committee will be formed to expedite and implement agreed points for a respectful solution.
• Stakeholders agreed to avoid protests/agitations from the agreement’s signing day to foster a positive implementation environment.
