UPSC CSE Application Fee Structure for 2024:

  • General and OBC (Male) candidates are required to pay Rs. 100 for the prelims and Rs. 200 for the mains, totaling Rs. 300.
  • SC/ST and candidates from other categories are exempted from paying any fee.
  • Female candidates, regardless of category, are exempted from paying any fee for both prelims and mains.

How To Apply For UPSC Application Form 2024?

To fill UPSC DAF 2024, candidates must follow these steps:

  1. Registration: Visit the official UPSC website and register before filling the Detailed Application Form (DAF). Click the relevant link under the “login” button to create registration accounts. Enter Name, Roll Number (six-digit format), Date of Birth, and email address as per the matriculation/secondary examination certificate.
  2. Login Credentials: After registration, login credentials will be sent to the registered email addresses. Ensure the email provided is valid and active.
  3. Login and Access DAF: Log in to the UPSC website using the roll number and password received via email. Access the DAF 2024.
  4. Modules: DAF 2024 consists of six modules: Personal, Educational Information, Parental Information, Employment Information, Upload documents, and Final Submission.
  5. Fill Modules: Fill out all modules completely. Save each module after completion. Before final submission, candidates can modify any module. However, changes cannot be made after the final submission.
  6. Document Upload: Required documents for UPSC DAF 2024 include a Matriculation Certificate (for proof of age), Class XII Marksheet, Graduation Marksheet/Final year Appearing Certificate, Community Certificate/Caste Certificate (if applicable), and PH Certificate (if applicable).
  7. Final Submission: Submit the DAF form using the Final Submission Module after filling all modules and uploading the necessary documents.

UPSC 2024 Vacancy

The anticipated number of UPSC IAS vacancies to be filled through the examination is approximately 1056. This figure includes 40 vacancies reserved for the Persons with Benchmark Disability Category. Specifically, there are 6 vacancies for candidates with blindness and low vision, 12 vacancies for those with deafness and hard of hearing, 9 vacancies for individuals with locomotor disabilities including cerebral palsy, leprosy, dwarfism, acid attack victims, muscular dystrophy, and 13 vacancies for multiple disabilities from among persons under clauses (a) to (c), including deaf-blindness. However, the final count of vacancies may undergo adjustments upon receiving the firm number of vacancies from Cadre Controlling Authorities.

UPSC Education Qualification

  • Minimum Qualification: Candidates must hold a degree from a government-recognized University or an equivalent qualification.
  • Final Year Candidates: Those awaiting results can apply for the UPSC preliminary Examination, but proof of passing the required examination must be submitted with the main IAS examination application.
  • Professional and Technical Qualifications: Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government as equivalent to degrees are eligible.
  • Medical Students: Final year MBBS students who have not completed their internship can apply. A certificate of course completion, including internship, must be submitted with the Main Examination application.

Nationality

Candidates must be citizens of India. All other Services: Candidate must be either:-

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal, or
  3. A subject of Bhutan, or
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 intending to settle in India permanently, or
  5. A person of Indian origin (PIO) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Zaire, and Vietnam intending to settle in India permanently.

UPSC Exam Pattern 2024

The UPSC exam pattern 2024 consists of three stages:

Stage I: Preliminary Examination

  1. Paper-I: General Studies
    • Nature: Merit Ranking
    • Duration: 2 Hours
    • Questions: 100
    • Marks: 200
  2. Paper-II: General Studies (CSAT)
    • Nature: Qualifying
    • Duration: 2 Hours
    • Questions: 80
    • Marks: 200
  • The questions in the IAS Prelims are multiple-choice or objective type.
  • Negative marking applies only to the Prelims stage, with 1/3rd (0.66) deduction for incorrect answers.
  • GS Paper-II (CSAT) is qualifying, requiring a minimum score of 33%.
  • Blind candidates receive an extra 20 minutes per paper.
  • Candidates must appear in both papers for evaluation, and Prelims marks don’t count towards the final score.

Stage II: Mains Examination The Mains Exam is a written descriptive test with nine papers:

  1. Paper-A: Compulsory Indian Language (Qualifying) – 3 Hours, 300 Marks
  2. Paper-B: English (Qualifying) – 3 Hours, 300 Marks
  3. Paper-I: Essay (Merit Ranking) – 3 Hours, 250 Marks
  4. Paper-II: General Studies I – 3 Hours, 250 Marks
  5. Paper-III: General Studies II – 3 Hours, 250 Marks
  6. Paper-IV: General Studies III – 3 Hours, 250 Marks
  7. Paper-V: General Studies IV – 3 Hours, 250 Marks
  8. Paper-VI: Optional Paper I – 3 Hours, 250 Marks
  9. Paper-VII: Optional Paper II – 3 Hours, 250 Marks

Total marks for Mains: 1750 Marks Interview or Personality Test Candidates clearing the Mains with the cut-off marks proceed to the Personality Test, which carries 275 Marks.

  • Candidates can choose their medium of writing (Hindi, English, or a language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution).
  • The final ranking is based on Mains and Interview scores.
  • Personality Test held only in UPSC Bhavan, New Delhi.
