Asia Cup 2023 Latest Update

The Asia Cup 2023 schedule will finally be released this week, after much delay. The event was the result of a meeting between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Asian Cricket Council, which is led by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

Due to discussions held in Dubai on Sunday and Monday between representatives of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Asia Cup schedule has been further delayed. The main topics of discussion were the prospect of holding more games in Pakistan and securing a larger cut of the money made by the Sri Lanka leg of the Asia Cup 2023. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earned a revenue share from the UAE for hosting the T20 Asia Cup last year, despite the new PCB administration accepting the hybrid format at the time.

According to Arun Dhumal, the Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the team led by Rohit Sharma has opted not to travel to Pakistan, therefore the much-awaited Asia Cup matches between India and Pakistan will take place in Sri Lanka. Dhumal, who is currently in Durban for the ICC Chief Executives Meet, stated that the PCB’s Zaka Ashraf and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah met to finalise the agenda before the ICC Board meeting on Thursday. Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka, Afghanistan vs. Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka vs. Afghanistan are the other three matches. Nepal, a considerably lesser squad, will be Pakistan’s sole opponent at home.
