Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is the scheme for the continuous development of the Railway stations with a long term vision. Ministry of Railway formulated the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme as a part of railway station redevelopment drive and for modernising 1309 railway station in the coming years. In accordance with this, stations will be given services modeled after the massive upgrades made to prominent stations like New Delhi and Ahmedabad, albeit at a cheaper cost.

Other essential feature of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is to provide Longer platforms, ballast-free lines, roof top plaza provisions, and 5G connectivity are some of the stations’ standout features. All prior redevelopment projects that have not yet started will be subsumed into the program.

Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Overview

The PMO had stated in a statement that the redevelopment, which will cost 24,470 crore, will provide modern passenger amenities as well as guarantee well-designed traffic circulation, inter-modal integration, and well-designed signage for passenger guidance. The PMO had also added that the design of station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage, and architecture. The ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ was started to redevelop 1,309 stations, and it was inspired by this concept. Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Key Objective

The program intends to create station master plans for the railroad and implement the master plan gradually. Enhance the amenities, going above and above the Minimum Essential Amenities (MEA), with the long-term goal of building roof plazas and city centers at the station.

• The plan must try to accommodate station utilization studies and stakeholder needs as much as feasible given financial constraints and inter-se priorities.
• The plan will cover the addition of new amenities as well as their improvement and replacement.
• This program will also apply to stations where thorough techno-economic feasibility assessments have been or are being completed, but no work has yet begun on building Roof Plazas.

Scope of Work Proposed in Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

• The Master Plans will include basic information about the best placement for the future Roof Plaza.
• The plan calls for adding large, well-lit entrance porches and improving facades in a way that is both economical and visually pleasant.
• The use of the existing buildings will be examined, and space near the station entrances should be made available for passengers, and the railroad offices should be relocated appropriately.
• The plan seeks to cost-effectively transfer unused or outdated structures in order to make room for higher priority passenger-related operations and to facilitate future development.
• One Station One Product must have a minimum of two stalls available.
• Additionally, room must be made for executive lounges and locations for brief business meetings.
• Station amenities for Divyangjan must follow rules periodically issued by the Railway Board.
• There may be ceremonial flags available in the station’s proper location.
• The passengers of trains passing through the station should have adequate sight on at least two LED-based station name boards.

Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Implementation Strategy

• The plan calls for stations to undergo timely, low-cost refurbishment.
• Zonal railroads are in charge of choosing the stations, and a committee of senior railway authorities will then endorse those choices.
• Plans and ensuing budgets will only be authorized in light of input from stakeholders and other criteria like foot traffic.
